Sauce: pour into empty salad dressing bottle and shake

  • ½ cup soy sauce we use gluten free tamari cause we have Celiac
  • 1 Tablespoon sesame oil
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper flakes or 1/2 teaspoon chili garlic sauce

Mix in bowl at campsite (tuna will thaw in minutes after you toss it with the sauce)

  • 1 frozen sushi-grade tuna filet cut into 1 inch cubes
  • chopped green onion
  • Sauce


  • thinly sliced or shredded vegetables carrot and daikon are good
  • pickled ginger
  • sesame seeds

Compose each serving

  • cold rice
  • tuna mixture
  • toppings


  • Cook rice and make sauce at home
  • Pack frozen tuna, sauce, rice, and toppings in cooler
  • Enjoy after a hike or on a warm day
